| For Immediate Release:
October 15, 2004 Dauphin Island, Alabama Dauphin Island Sea Lab Faculty Recent Grants Dr. Just Cebrian, Senior Marine Scientist, Dauphin Island Sea Lab (DISL), and Assistant Professor of Marine Science, University of South Alabama (USA), received a grant of $31,500 from EPA-Mobile Bay National Estuary Program on "Submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) gardening: Evaluating ecosystems services regained with SAV restoration." Dr. Hugh MacIntyre, Senior Marine Scientist, DISL, and Assistant Professor of Marine Science, USA, received $5,000 from the Mobile Bay National Estuary Program for "Identification and Distribution of Harmful Algae in Relation to Water Quality Parameters in Mobile Bay.” Dr. MacIntyre and Dr. John Dindo, Senior Marine Scientist and Chair of K-12 Education, DISL also received $436,000 from the Environmental Protection Agency for "Environmental Monitoring and Primary Production in Mobile Bay: A Research and Education Initiative.” |
